Urban outreach prog witnesses overwhelming response in Udhampur

Udhampur: Urban outreach “My town My pride” programme witnessed overwhelming public response in the Udhampur Municipal Council and two other Municipal Committees of District Udhampur.
Principal Secretary, Revenue Department, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, the visiting officer for MC, Udhampur was accorded a warm welcome by the Urban Local Body members and local people.
At the outset, District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla and Acting president MC Udhampur Surinder Singh Khalsa, highlighted the developmental requirements of the Udhampur town.
The Visiting officer held extensive interactions with Urban Local Body members, Frontline Government functionaries, Social activists/NGOs, Senior citizens and representatives at Riwayat Community Hall Udhampur.
He also distributed golden cards under Ayushman Bharat scheme, Power tillers, KCCs, Mamta kits, driving license and health cards among the beneficiaries.
The ULB members and local people projected several demands and highlighted problems. They sought allocation of sufficient funds for completion of Solid Waste Management Project at Mand, renovation of Sports stadium, Establishment of heritage centre, replacement of damaged water supply pipes in various wards, augmentation of drinking water supply in Udhampur town, renovation of water springs , meeting shortage of Safai Karamcharais , Overhead foot bridge and onstruction of Protection wall at ward number 20,
The ULB members demanded joining orders of selected candidates of 2006 class IV list, implementation of 74th amendment, development of park at ward number -03, provision of ward development funds on the pattern of Block Development Councils, development of parking places in Udhampur town, Special package for newly inducted wards, CT scan and staff at District Hospital, Allocation of ward wise funds, Registration of 2005 model vehicles, easing of Traffic congestion etc.
After giving patient hearing to the problems and demands of the ULB members and public, Dr Kotwal assured the public that their genuine demands would be taken up with the concerned quarters for early solution.
Relief &Rehabilitation Commissioner, Migrants, J&K, Tej Krishan Bhat, Additional Commissioner Central in the Office of financial Commissioner, Jammu, Rishpal Singh were the visiting officers for two other MCs.
The Principal Secretary, along with DDC, inspected the stalls installed by different government departments for the educating the people about various centrally sponsored schemes. A renowned local artist, Romaloo Ram and party presented theme based cultural performance on the occasion.
Dr Kotwal asked the elected representatives of Municipal Council that basic principle of the local elected bodies is to self-sustain and resolving the local issues. He advised them to work will zeal and passion and generate local resources for becoming slef-reliant.
Later, Dr. Kotwal also laid foundation stone of a rotary at Domail Chowk and inaugurated lane with covered drain at Slathia chowk ward number-06.
Additional District Development Commissioner, Ashok Kumar, ASP, Rajinder Katoch, and other district officers of various departments besides all Councillors and prominent citizens of the Udhampur town were present on the occasion.
