UrFU Celebrates as Two PhD Candidates Receive Prestigious President of the Russian Federation Scholarships

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation summarized the results of the prestigious competition for young scientists. Representatives of UrFU were among the winners – the competition committee highly appreciated the outstanding achievements in studies and research activities of two graduate students of the university. Elena Pashnina and Adepoju Feisayo Olabisi received the scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation for study abroad – the winners will be able to undergo scientific internship in China. 29 young scientists from all over Russia became scholarship holders based on the results of the competition.

“I was awarded the scholarship due to my excellent academic performance and background in the form of scientific research. I conduct my work in the laboratory of segmentoelectrics, where I study the properties of crystals and do domain engineering. For my research internship, I will be traveling to the city of Xī’ān. There I plan to continue research on my dissertation topic, which is the study of domain structure kinetics by charged particle beams. This is my first experience of studying abroad, it will be interesting for me to carry out measurements on their high-tech equipment, to acquire new scientific contacts for me”, – says Elena Pashnina, junior researcher of the Section of Optoelectronics and Semiconductor Technology.

In turn, Adepoju Feisayo Olabisi, engineer at the Laboratory of Biotransformation Technologies and Food Chemistry, is engaged in research activities in the field of chemical technologies.

“During my internship in China, I plan to continue my research work. I will investigate the anti-diabetic activity of pentacyclic lupane-type triterpenoids,” Adepoju Feisayo Olabisi explained.

Note that the scholarship covers tuition fees, visa, travel to and from the place of study, accommodation, medical insurance and local transportation.
