US-based NGO extends support to Palliative Care Unit at JNMC

ALIGARH  : Aligs Care, a Houston-based non-profit organization from the USA, equipped a 4-bed Palliative Care Unit at the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University for the terminally ill marginalized patients.

Prof. Mohammad Akram, Chairman, Department of Radiotherapy and Prof. Ibne Ahmad, Chairman, Department of Radio diagnosis said that the pioneering facility is the first of its kind established at JNMC. They appreciated the humanitarian services done by the Aligs Care team.

Assuring all possible support to the JNMC, the founding President of Aligs Care, Dr. Samina Salim said that her organization will provide all possible help in the establishment of a full-fledged palliative/hospice facility at JNMC. She said that Aligs Care aims at providing better cancer care and support to patients in need. The Aligs Care also organized a winter clothing distribution camp at the JNMC hospital premises in which winter jackets, woolen shawls and sweaters were given to more than 50 cancer patients.
