USAID Announces $3 Million Investment in Locally Led Development in Zambia

Washington: The United States government, through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), announced it will invest $3 million to support locally led development in Zambia through USAID’s Local Works initiative, which operates in 35 countries around the world.

Local ownership of the development process is essential to help partner countries address their own development challenges. Local Works funding can be programmed in any sector, and supports USAID’s goal to work directly with local and diverse organizations, putting local stakeholders in charge of the development process—to set the agenda, design solutions, lead on implementation and monitoring and evaluation, and be accountable for results.
