UST Hosts the Seventh Edition of Intercompany Football Tournament ‘Goal’ in Kochi; More than 40 teams to Compete

Infopark Kochi CEO Susanth Kurunthil inaugurates the month-long football tournament sponsored and conducted by UST

 

Kochi : The seventh edition of the annual intercompany football tournament organised by the UST, “Goal 2023”, for the technology professionals at Kochi Infopark, was inaugurated on Friday at Kochi.

The tournament was kicked off at the Marthoma School Ground, Kakkanad, by Infopark CEO Susanth Kurunthil, in the presence of Sunil Balakrishnan, Chief Values Officer and Global Head of Center Operations, UST. The tournament, being played at the Marthoma School Ground & United Sports Centre in Kakkanad, Kochi, is sponsored and organised by UST.

The finals, which will be played on May 25, will mark the conclusion of the month-long competition between more than 40 teams representing various technology companies at Infopark. The teams will compete in a format that consists of master’s matchups that are modelled after 7-a-side football for masters, 9-a-side men’s matches, and 5-a-side women’s matches. The matches will be played in the League Knock Out format.

The top three teams in each of the three categories will be presented with the UST Goal 23 Edition Winners, Runners-up, and Second Runners-up Trophies. In addition, Golden Ball, Golden Boot and Golden Glove will be presented to individual players who excel in the tournament.

GOAL, the intercompany football tournament hosted by UST, took its inception at Technopark aiming to enthral the football loving techies of the companies based in Thiruvananthapuram. UST had introduced the Goal football tournament for the IT community in Kochi in 2012.
