USTC Successfully Hosts ‘Perceiving China’ Social Practice Activity for International Students
On April 29th, 2024, thirty international students from USTC embarked on a journey to explore rural education in China, under the theme of “Perceiving China, Rural Revitalization, and Building a Strong Education Nation.” They conducted a two-day social practice activity at Yue Xi Middle School and Tang Chi Middle School in Yue Xi County, Anqing City.
The event was divided into three parts: exchange discussions, cultural classes, and physical education classes for both Chinese and international students.
During the exchange discussions, the two middle schools introduced their development history, educational philosophies, characteristics, and student activities to the international students.
In the cultural classes, the international students engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions with the students from the two middle schools on cultural themes such as dietary habits, festival customs, language and music, education systems, natural humanities, and traditional clothing.
In the physical education classes, international and Chinese students participated together in competitive races and basketball matches, combining friendship with the spirit of competition.
After the competition, international students also experienced the charm of blending classical opera with modern sports through a special intermission exercise adapted from Huangmei Opera.
This activity not only provided international students with a platform for in-depth understanding of China but also brought opportunities for external exchanges to the students of Yue Xi County. In the future, the International College will organize more such activities to promote deeper and more substantial exchanges between Chinese and foreign cultures.
