USTC: USTC Holds 2nd Forum on Innovation and Practice for Management and Humanities Postgraduates

On October 22nd, the Second Forum on Innovation and Practice for Management and Humanities Postgraduates, under the theme of Serve the Society with Vigorousness, was jointly held by schools of Graduate, Management, Public Affairs, Humanities and Social Sciences, Innovation and Entrepreneurship and International Institute of Finance. Despite the epidemic for which the forum had to be hosted online, all 1,746 postgraduates attended this cloud event and more than 25,000 views were recorded.

The main forum kicked off at 9:00 am. LIANG Liang, professor of Hefei University of Technology (HFUT) and University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), first delivered a speech with the emphasis on digital transformation, innovation and management of corporates. He believes that digital transformation will bring us still more and better opportunities, and thus postgraduates should develop deeper thinking on that.

Prof. WEN Rui of Northwest University impressed the audience by showing the beauty of blue and white porcelain as well as the charm of archaeological science.

Prof. WEI Jiuchang of Public Affairs School made a strong case for the capacity of recognizing the whole through observation of the part, which he believes is essential for a decision maker to identify and evaluate the potential risks on the way ahead.

Prof. FAN Jinyan from Auburn University made clear the ways to handle perfectionism and procrastination that people always try to avoid from the perspective of cognitive therapy.

Since 14:00 pm, three sub-forums were hosted online simultaneously by the School of Management, School of Public Affairs, and School of Humanities and Social Sciences. Thirty-one excellent postgraduates were picked out to give a report respectively on innovation and entrepreneurship, frontier of management, social governance, building of the rule of law, news communication, cultural heritage and museology, and interpreting and translation.

A total of 15 professors from both USTC and other institutions gave their professional feedback accordingly, and scored the above-mentioned students based on the assessment standards of the forum.

Three postgraduates were rewarded the excellent practice report of innovation, and seven were nominated for this honor.
