UTMN: Russian language expert is identified among foreign students

“The Tyumen region is a worthy training ground for young people from all over the world. We are glad to welcome talented young people from all countries. The number of children who come from abroad to study at our universities is increasing every year. In 2019 it was 2 000 people, this year 2.5 thousand people from 55 countries of the world are studying full-time. I am glad that young people are interested in the history of our country, its culture, customs, and the Russian language,” said Daniil Pavlovich, head of the Department for the Development of the Educational Environment of the Department of Education and Science of the Tyumen Region.

The complex of Olympics tasks was aimed to check the students’ language skills level, their ability to engage in dialogue and knowledge of country-specific points.

Mubita Kabika, a 4th-year student of the University of Tyumen from Zambia got the highest amount of points (96), Danila Shumilyuk, a 4th-year student of UTMN from the Republic of Kazakhstan took the second place, (94.5), Azizjon Khatamov, a 3rd-year student of UTMN from Uzbekistan is in third place (93 points).

“I participated in the Olympics for the second time. I liked the task where it was necessary to find words from different letters, and the test after watching the video. I think that such activities help to learn Russian. During the competition I understand that there is room for improvement,” Mubita Kabika, the winner of the Olympics said.
