Utrecht University: Leru Summer School for PhD students on ‘The University of the Future’

Sixty PhD candidates
Participants of the LERU Summer School are PhD students from Utrecht University and the other LERU members. There is also room for PhD students from a number of UU partner institutions. Candidates are at an advanced stage of their PhD project and strongly motivated to reconsider the role of universities in their regional setting, as well as nationally and internationally. The application of UU candidates takes place via the Graduate Schools, which carry out their own pre-selection. Interested parties can apply there until 1 March.

At the end of March it will be known which candidates will be admitted to the LERU Summer School. The LERU Summer School is free of charge for participants.

Manifesto
The participants will come together in Utrecht for a week in July. They will talk to inspiring speakers and work on a manifesto. A lot of time will be reserved for the participants to discuss and brainstorm, and to work together on the manifesto. Geert Buelens will guide participants in writing the manifesto, which they will present to a panel of stakeholders at the end of the week.

Speakers who have already agreed to participate include José van Dijck, Maarten Hajer and Michael Kwakkelstein.

By creating an international, intercultural and interdisciplinary setting, the LERU Summer School provides a stimulating, valuable learning experience.
