Valley wide ‘Kharif Campaign 2021-22’ kick started from Tanghdar Kupwara
Kupwara: In its endeavor to reach to the farming community living in the farthest corners of the valley, the Department of Agriculture today kick started the Kharif Campaign from Tanghdar, Kupwara.
The Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal on the occasion initiated a 02 days ‘Kharif Campaign 2021-22’ from Tanghdar here.
The campaign was started with the sowing of Maize in presence of farming community of village Bagh bela Tehsil Tanghdar.
While addressing the gathering of farmers, the Director highlighted the objectives of organizing outreach programs by way of the Kharif campaign and said that such a type of program aims at reaching out to the farmers to take appraisal for on ground assessment.
He urged upon the farmers to come forward and work in a coordinated manner with the Department for the overall development of the agriculture sector.
Director highlighted the need for a multi dimensional marketing strategy concept so that the produce of the farmer could be marketed in a very effective manner. He said the Department is planning a drive to organize special training programs for educated youths to adopt global trends in agriculture.
Chowdhary directed Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara to prepare a special project for the upliftmentment of the agriculture sector in the district and on spot directions were passed for establishing custom hiring centres in Sub Division Tanghdar.
A large gathering of farmers of Tanghdar and adjoining areas besides District Development Councellor Najma Hameed, Block Development Chairperson Tanghdar Riyaz Ahmad Khwaja, Block Development Chairperson Teetwal Nishada Parveen, Joint Director Apiculture and Mushroom, Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara besides others were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, on the directions of Director Agriculture Kashmir programmes of similar nature were organized throughout the valley wherein senior officers of the Department participated to make Kharif campaign 2021-22 launched by the department a success.
