Shopian: Soon after inaugurating the Office of Chairman District Development Council at the Block Development Office, Gagron, Shopian, DDC, Vice Chairperson, Irfan Manhas said that his focus will be on developmental works.
Speaking on the occasion, Manhas said that no stone will be left unturned in fulfilling the genuine demands of the common masses. He further said that it is their collective responsibility to work jointly with the district administration for the welfare of the people.
The DDC Vice Chairman said that the people have great expectations with them and it is their responsibility to fulfill all their genuine demands and other issues on priority basis.
The District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shopian, Amrit Paul Singh, DPO, BDO and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
Earlier, in first of its kind and to acquaint the newly DDC members with the functioning of the Government, district administration Shopian held an interactive session between the public representatives and the officers of different departments.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya while interacting with the DDC members said that the motive behind the interaction is to build an interface so that the public representatives and officers work in synergy besides minimizing the gaps in governance.
He said that the recent elections have been a watershed in the realm of democratic decentralization and newly elected members are the eyes and ears of the Administration.
Meanwhile officers of different departments particularly of Rural Developmental had one on one interaction with the DDC members who were thoroughly acquainted with various government flagship programmes, welfare schemes besides schemes of rural development and public works.
The DDC members also brought several issues of public importance into the notice of Officers Viz road connectivity, basic public amenities, health care etc.
