Vedanta Women’s League prodigies earn training stint at National Football camp
Panjim: After their mesmerizing performances at Vedanta Women’s League, talented Goan footballers Karishma Shirvoikar and Michelle Castanha have secured their spots among top 30 players selected for Senior Women’s National football camp organized in preparation of AFC Asian Women’s Championship 2022. Karishma played as a striker for PVC Parra and Michelle was the defensive lynchpin for Churchill Brothers in the recent edition of Vedanta Women’s League. These gifted girls from Goa have displayed spectacular performances throughout all three editions of Vedanta Women’s League playing for their respective teams.
Mr. Annanya Agarwal, President- Vedanta Sports congratulated both the players on their selection for National Football camp and said “I am extremely happy to see that the Vedanta Women’s League is proving to be a great success towards our goal of taking Indian football to the next level. Our constant endeavor is to nurture talents through our robust grassroots football training programs and provide platforms to groom them as professional footballers. I congratulate Karishma and Michelle, and I am confident that they will secure their spots in the final Indian squad for AFC Asian Women’s Championship 2022.”
Vedanta Women’s League launched in collaboration with Goa Football Association provided a much needed platform for over 300 aspiring women football players across Goa to showcase their skills and hone their talent. Vedanta is committed towards providing further support to the promising players to pursue professional career in the sports.
Ms. Karishma Shirvoikar, who also recently played for Gokulam Kerala FC in IWL expressed her views about her selection and said “I am delighted on getting selected for the National Football camp. My aim is to represent India in AFC Asian Women’s Championship 2022. I started my professional football journey in the inaugural edition of Vedanta Women’s League, which I believe is the best footballing platform for aspiring women footballers from Goa, helping them obtain much-needed exposure to excel further in football.”
