Vedic Chanting by All-Girls’ Gurukul Students to Inaugurate IIT, Delhi Annual Fest

New Delhi: Students from a Kanya Vedic Gurukul, Aligarh-Uttar Pradesh, will deliver the opening performance at the prestigious annual cultural festival of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) on 5 October 2024.

The festival, Rendezvous, is IIT Delhi’s flagship cultural event. Now in its 49th edition, it will run from 5 to 8 October 2024, attracting students from over 1,200 colleges and drawing more than 160,000 attendees. Renowned for celebrating creativity, innovation, and cultural diversity, Rendezvous is a hallmark event on India’s cultural calendar.

New Delhi-based social welfare organization Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation is sponsoring and has been training the Gurukul students for their performance at the festival. The Kanya Gurukul students’ Vedic mantra chanting will inaugurate the event at 9:45 AM on 5 October, featuring three talented young girls—Mangalmay, Priyanshu, and Krishna—aged between 12 and 15.

Sanjeev Newar, an alumnus of IIT Guwahati & IIM Calcutta, and founder of Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation, expressed his pride in the students: “This performance of Vedic chants by our Kanya Gurukul students is not just a moment of pride for us, but a reflection of Bharat’s timeless gift to the world. The Vedic heritage embodies profound knowledge and spiritual wisdom that has been safeguarded for millennia. Bringing this sacred tradition to the prestigious platform of IIT Delhi allows us to share this rich legacy with a wider audience, inspiring not only pride in our roots but also a deeper connection to the values that shape our civilization.”

An official communication on Rendezvous’s Facebook page echoed this sentiment: “Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation proudly presents the inaugural performance of Rendezvous 2024: A Spirited Masquerade! Experience the magic as Kanya Gurukul students enchant the audience with Vedic chants. Join us in this special initiative by Sewa Nyaya Utthan Foundation to promote and preserve our rich cultural heritage.”
