Chennai : Veranda Learning Solutions Limited (“Veranda”), a public listed education technology company (BSE: 543514, NSE: VERANDA), has signed an MoA with the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) to assist in the implementation of the Naan Mudhalvan scheme, aimed at providing skill development and career guidance to students in government colleges. Through this partnership, Veranda will not only help students across streams acquire industry based skills, and become more job-ready, but will also help expand its own ‘No Student Is Left Behind’ mission.

Since the signing of MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) with the Tamil Nadu government on August 29, Veranda Learning has received 61,101 registrations from students across Tamil Nadu for these free courses under the Naan Mudhalvan scheme. One of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s pet projects which he inaugurated on March 1, this scheme aims to foster a strong relationship between industry and educational institutions in the state. Through this scheme, the Tamil Nadu government aims to upskill 10 lakh youth across the state every year.

Out of the 61,101 registrations Veranda Learning Solutions has received, 41,881 students have chosen Veranda’s foundation courses (non-mandatory courses comprising of App Development, Banking Foundation, CA Foundation, Data Science, DevOps, IAS Foundation, Java and Programming, Railway Foundation, SSC Foundation and TNPSC Foundation). The remaining 19,220 students have enrolled in mandatory courses – Cloud Computing and Big Data Analytics. Led by seasoned faculty, each mandatory course will have 9,610 students.

Additionally, amongst the various courses Veranda Learning is offering under the scheme, App Development has emerged as a leading choice for students at government colleges, with 33.2% of the 61,101 students having chosen to enrol for it. TNPSC Foundation course is second on the list with 6286 students (about 10%) enrolling for it.

Speaking about the MoA with TNSDC, Mr. Kalpathi S. Suresh, Chairman and Executive Director, Veranda Learning Solutions said, “We are excited to partner with TNSDC in its mission to provide skill development courses to students across government colleges, to help 10 lakh youth secure industry jobs annually. If our Chief Minister Mr MK Stalin aims to make the state a $1 trillion economy, the focus shouldn’t just be on the 15-20 urban centres. Unless we tap the human resources in smaller towns, achieving such milestones will be difficult. We are pleased to play our part in the Naan Mudhalvan scheme and are very encouraged by the number of students enrolling into our courses. Amongst the courses we are offering, it is interesting to note that Cloud Computing and Data Analytics are popular, however, we have seen a 33% enrolment for the application development programme. TNPSC Foundation course comes second with 10% enrolling for it. We look forward to helping students gain a range of skills that will make them future job-ready.”

Veranda will utilise technology to assess student progress during each of the 45-hour online courses. Industry-standard focussed tests and mock exams will be used to evaluate students, and a regular performance report will be shared so that they can track their own progress. Veranda Learning will also offer placement support to students once they finish the foundation course.
