Vice-Chairperson DDC Udhampur inaugurates Tilhan Mela at Panchayat Bhawan Dehma
UDHAMPUR :- Vice Chairperson, District Development Council Udhampur, Juhi Manhas Pathania inaugurated ‘Tilhan Mela’ at at Panchayat Bhawan Dehma, Teshil Majalta organised by Agriculture Department to promote oilseed crop cultivation .
The event was aimed to promote the cultivation of oilseed crops and educate farmers about the latest techniques and practices to improve crop productivity.
In her address, Ms. Pathania highlighted the importance of promoting oilseed crop production in the region and encouraged farmers to adopt modern farming techniques to increase their yield. She also emphasized the need for creating better market access for farmers and providing them with financial support to improve their livelihoods.
“The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has implemented impactful reforms in the agriculture sector, such as the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) Act and Essential Commodities Act, aiming to liberalize trade and provide better market access to farmers,” the Vice- Chairperson said and added that these changes intend to boost farmers’ income by enabling them to sell their produce beyond traditional mandis.
“In the context of Jammu and Kashmir, specific initiatives have been introduced to promote Agricultural growth. “Tilhan Mela’ is one such trailblazing initiative that aims to promote oilseed crop production and improve the livelihoods of farmers in the region,” ” she added further.
Earlier, Anil Kumar AEO Majalta, Rakesh Sharma SMS Ramnagar and other officials welcomed the Vice Chairperson.
The department also distributed free Nano urea bottles to the farmers and highlighted the benefits of Nano urea over traditional urea. Nano urea is a new technology that reduces the amount of fertilizer required for crop production while increasing crop yield.
