Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University releases a book

Aligarh : The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University Prof Tariq Mansoor released a Book titled Electric Vehicle Integration in a Smart Microgrid Environment. It is published by CRC press USA and jointly edited by Dr Saad Alam, Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, and Coordinator, CARET, AMU, Associate Editor, IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification, USA and Dr Mahesh Krishnamurty, Professor, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, USA, Editor in Chief IEEE Transactions on Transportation Electrification.

To address the growing environmental challenges of the petroleum based transportation, the Government of India has launched Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) India Mission.

As the Electric Vehicles find wider acceptance with major advancement in high efficiency drivetrain and vehicle design, it has become clear that there is a need for a system-level understanding of energy storage and management in a microgrid environment.

Practical issues, such as fleet management, coordinated operation, repurposing of batteries and environmental impact of recycling and disposal, need to be carefully studied in the context of an aging grid infrastructure. This Book explores such a perspective with contributions from leading experts on planning analysis, optimization and management of electric transportation.

AMU has played a key role in this Mission by establishing the Industry oriented Centre of excellence for Charging infrastructure of the emerging electric vehicle transportation sector named as Center of Advanced research in Electrified Transportation (CARET).

CARET has been recognized as Smart Incubation Center and bagged the platinum award by India Smart Grid Forum. CARET has contributed from patents to hardware set up to skill training and published more than 150 Transactions, Journals, conference papers and book chapter. To continue addressing the challenges in the paradigm shift of the Transportation sector, this book addresses the need of ecosystem development for establishing the electrified transportation framework in South East Asia. State of the art futuristic work in this context was recieved from six continents of the world and was reviewed and edited by Dr. Alam and Dr. Krishnamurthy. The book was forwarded by Sri Rejikumar Pillai, President, ISGF, a PPP initiative of Ministry of Power, Government of India.

Book release function was attended by Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Professor Pervez Mustajab , Chairperson, Department of Electrical Engineering, Professor Salman Hameed, CARET AMU Advisor, Professor M. S. Jamil Asghar , CARET Engineering Faculty advisor, Professor Rizwan Khan, Professor Saad Alam and Dr Yasser Rafat, Coordinator(s), CARET, AMU.
