Vice Chancellor release books

 

Aligarh : Since 1976, the Centre of Continuing and Adult Education and Extension (CCAEE), Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been engaging adults in systematic and sustained educational activities to provide them with new forms of knowledge, skills, attitudes and values and now the transformational stories of hope, inspiration and purpose of many such people have been put together in ‘Endeavour (Kaavish/Prayas)’, a Handbook of Success Stories of CCAEE, AMU Learners’, released recently by Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor.

“This handbook will inspire more grown up people to understand that when they are provided with the right skills and knowledge, they too can draw out the strengths of the younger generation—leaving a ripple effect on generations to come”, said the Vice Chancellor while releasing the book.

Prof Mansoor pointed out that he takes special interest in the matter of adult education and that he is extremely happy that success stories of learners at CCAEE have been documented in a book.

“This handbook includes reports of the past five years to motivate learners and stakeholders to make careers out of the skills they learned at CAAEE”, said Prof Mohammad Gulrez (Director, CAAEE).

Prof Aysha Munira Rasheed (Deputy Director, CAAEE) stressed that the CAAEE aims to encourage people from the lower economic strata to learn new skills for living a life of dignity.

“This book has success stories written in the English, Hindi and Urdu languages with a picture gallery of CAAEE activities of the past five years”, said Dr Shamim Akhtar.

Vice Chancellor, Prof Mansoor also released ‘Optimal Decision Making in Operations Research and Statistics- Methodologies and Applications’ (CRC Press, Taylor & Francis, United Kingdom) edited by Prof Aquil Ahmed (Chairman of the Department of the Statistics and Operations Research) and his Colleague Dr Irfan Ali.

“This book will provide insights in decision-making for implementing strategies in various spheres of real-world issues. It will also integrate optimal policies in various decision making problems and serve as a reference for researchers and industrial practitioners”, said Prof Aquil.

Dr Irfan pointed out: Optimal Decision Making in Operations Research and Statistics- Methodologies and Applications is meant for faculty members, students, researchers and industrialists who are working in the field of materials science, especially operations research and applied statistics.
