‘Vigyan Express’ Train Reaches Habibganj Station of Bhopal

 

Bhopal : Science Express Train of Union Ministry of Forest and Environment reached Habibganj station of Bhopal. Secretary State Bio-Diversity Board Shri Shriniwas Moorthy inaugurated train on railway station by cutting a ribbon. The 16 coach Vigyan Express is a specially designed air conditioned is a mobile exhibition.

It may be mentioned that climate change is of significant importance for environment. The effects of climate change are global but people have very limited information and understanding towards it. Therefore, information related to climate change has been provided in the “Science Express Climate Action Special” train under the 9th phase. This train will cover 68 places from February 17 to September 08, 2017. School and College students, Officers/Employees of various departments besides common men can view this exhibition.

Out of 16 coaches of Science Express, an exhibition has been showcased in 8 coaches by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. Information on various aspects of climate change, studies and problems has been displayed. Moreover, affects of climate change, its solutions and perspective of policies have been presented in very interesting and easy manner in the exhibition. Furthermore, an exhibition has been showcased by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and Biotechnology department in coach no. 9 to 11. Progress taking place in the biotechnology field in the country beside subjects related to science education in India have been displayed in these coaches.

A Kids zone has been made for students of class 3 to 5 in the express. Students get opportunity here to play games in order to parries them with environment and to prepare science and math models. In addition to this, Joy of Science laboratory has been installed in other coach where students can understand bio-diversity, climate change, environment, science and concept of math through different experiments and activities. Also a facility of discussion cum training centre has been provided in the express for building environment, science and math competency among the teachers.

It is to be highlighted that this train passed through various states took halt at Amla station of Madhya Pradesh from August 4 to 6. It will take halt at Habibganj station onAugust 7 to 9 followed by Bina railway station on August 10 to 12 and Khajuraho railway station on August 13 to 14.

Programmes are being organized at the concerned railway stations to ensure state’s participation by EPCO and M.P. –C.D.M. Agency. A Climate Change special awareness programme was organised for students by EPCO and M.P.-C.D.M. agency at Amla and Betul railway stations on August 4 and 5, 2017.

Under the programme, ‘Jalvayu Parivartan: Jane Samjhe’ students were informed about climarte, climate change, causes for climate change, its effects and solutions. Moreover, later on the students were described that activities undertaken by them are eco-friendly or not through footprint calculator under the ‘Aao Jaane-Apna Footprint’. Beside this under the ‘Abhi Karein-Sabhi Karein’ activity, the students were informed that what kind of substances and activities should be adopted to protect environment. Questions concerning environment and climate change issues were asked to the students under the quiz and students were awarded for answering correct answers.

The Science Express train will take halt at platform no. 2 of Habibganj railway Station from August 7 to 9. Various programmes will be organized by EPCO, M.P.-C.D.M. agency and CEE at the platform. Visiting time for exhibition is from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. There is no charge to see the exhibition and everyone is invited in the exhibition.
