VIT-AP School of Social Sciences and Humanities Hosts Successful Three-Day Online International Conference, Athena

 

Amaravati  : The VIT-AP School of Social Sciences and Humanities (VISH) successfully held its third annual Athena International Conference online from December 5th to 7th, 2023. This year’s theme, “Culture, Society, and Politics: Exploring Northeast India through the Lenses of Social Sciences and Humanities,” resonated deeply with participants, sparking stimulating discussions and insightful exchanges.

The conference was honored to have distinguished guests, including Chief Guest Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha (Retired), a renowned veteran of the Indian Air Force and Chancellor of Guwahati University, along with Dr. S.V. Kota Reddy, the Vice Chancellor of VIT-AP University, and Dr. Jagadeesh Mudiganti, the Registrar. Dr. Thahiya Afzhal, the Associate Dean of VISH, warmly welcomed all attendees and delivered the opening address.

Over the three days, the conference witnessed engaging presentations and thought-provoking discussions led by prominent scholars and activists. These included Ms. Patricia Mukhim, the editor of The Shillong Times, Dr. Sobhana Chelliah of Indiana University, and Dr. Charles Redmon of the University of Essex. They addressed a range of critical issues and concerns specific to Northeast India, offering valuable insights and fostering deeper understanding through the lenses of social sciences and humanities.
