VIT-AP University Celebrates Glorious 77th Independence Day Felicitates 6 unsung heroes from NDRF, GMC, DMHO

VIT-AP University celebrated the 77th Independence Day with great patriotic fervor. The centerpiece of the celebrations was the flag hoisting ceremony. The national flag, also known as the “Tiranga,” was unfurled with great pride by the Chief Guest Jitendra Chakravarthy Putcha (EVP and Global Head – Data, Analytics, AI, LTI Mind Tree). The celebration of Independence Day ignited a sense of patriotism and love for the country.

The Chief guest Jitendra Chakravarthy Putcha honored a total of 6 Unsung Heroes, 2 NDRF, 2 municipal workers and 2 medical personnel on the occasion and applauded their services to the society. He gave mementos and a cash reward of Rs.25,000/- each to all 6 unsung heroes.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest Jitendra Chakravarthy Putcha said that the essence of Independence Day celebrations in India is a vibrant representation of the nation’s journey from colonial subjugation to a free and democratic country. The day not only honors the sacrifices of the past but also inspires hope for a brighter future. He appreciated VIT-AP University for its social initiative of Unsung heroes.

VIT-AP University Vice-Chancellor Dr|| S.V. Kota Reddy drew the attention on various programs being undertaken in the university through social responsibility. Every year on Independence and Republic Days VIT-AP University through its social responsibility recognizes the services of many UNSUNG HERO’S who have contributed a lot to the society risking their lives to save people’s lives.

Prizes were awarded to the students, teachers and staff who have participated in various sports and games competitions held recently and remain the winners.

Details of Unsung Heroes who were honoured on the occasion:

NDRF

  1. Pradeep Kumar (Inspector, 10th Battalion, NDRF)
  2. S Karthik (Constable, 10th Battalion, NDRF)

These two have shown their commitment in saving people’s lives in various incidents.

They were rewarded with Rs. 25,000/- each

Municipal Workers

  1. What. Nagendram (Municipal Workers, 12th Division, Guntur Municipal Corporation)
  2. G. Lakshmaiah (Municipal Workers, 3rd Division, Guntur Municipal Corporation)

Apart from keeping the roads clean, these two also performed life-saving duties in removing hazardous waste. They were rewarded with Rs. 25,000/- each

DMHO Staff

  1. Dr || CH Ratnamanmohan (District Program Management Officer, National Health Mission, District Blind Control Officer)
  2. Yan Ramakrishna Rao (Health Extension Officer, Office of District Medical and Health Officer)

During the Covid-19 period, these two monitored vaccines, managed various reports and informed the higher officials from time to time. They were rewarded with Rs. 25,000/- each
