Vivekanand Education Society students continue to shine across sporting events
Mumbai : Vivekanand Education Society Arts, Science and Commerce (VESASC) students have brought nationwide laurels to the institution in the fields of Football, Rope Mallakhamb and Taekwondo as their students have participated, won, and progressed to advanced participation levels in these and other sporting activities.
Amongst the recent winners who have brought this latest set of pride and laurels to VESASC are Mrunali Harnekar and Abhishek Prasad. Mrunali (FYBAMMC) has bagged the gold medal in the inter-collegiate Taekwondo selection trials organized by the University of Mumbai. She will be part of the University team, representing Mumbai in the Inter-University tournament. Abhishek (BMS 2021-22) has made the institution proud with two gold medals, one each in team championship and in the rope mallakhamb individual championship concluded in Bengaluru in May’22 under the aegis of the Khelo India University Games. The two are following in the footsteps of Arifa Syed, a 2018 batch pass-out who actively participated in the institution’s various socio-cultural events and has since started her football journey at the state level with a consistent performance that is going to lead her to greater heights.
The mantra at VESASC has always been all-round exposure and holistic development, extending beyond basic academics, as the institute believes in honing life skills in students by developing and cultivating a culture of healthy competition, participation, and physical training requirements for its students. Making them ready for the world of work.
Speaking on the wins, Dr. Anita Kanwar, Principal, VESASC said, “All-round development has always been our focus. We understand that every child comes with a different aptitude for different activities, and we nurture whichever sphere of life any student of ours would want to excel at. While academics are important, we have always been supportive by means of providing the necessary infrastructure, training facilities, and guiding in growth potential for every student who has stepped up to the various sporting events that are available in the country.”
