Vocal For Local: Billabong School students youngest winning team at Toycathon 2021 Competition an initiative of ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan”
Mumbai : Team Mighty Warriors from Mumbai emerged as the winners of Toycathon 2021 a national level competition organized by the inter-ministerial department under the initiative of ‘AatmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’. The Team consisted of two students from Billabong High International School (BHIS) Ayush Sankaran, Dhwani Raghuram and Jashith Narang from Bombay Scottish, Powai. Team Mighty Warriors created an Indo-Lingo application to learn Indian languages like Sanskrit, Tamil and Kannada.
More than 1.2 lakh students participated in the event and the Mighty Warriors from Mumbai are the youngest winners among 117 winning teams. The aim of organizing this competition was to challenge India’s innovative minds to conceptualize toys and games based on Bharatiya civilization, history, culture, mythology, and ethos. The competition is organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell with support from different departments of the Ministry. The competition was open not only to students but also to teachers, start-ups, and toy professionals. More than 1.2 lakh students participated in this competition out of which 17000 ideas came up for the competition. In a 3 days event started on 22 till 24 June almost 1567 ideas were shortlisted in a final round and 117 teams including Ayush’s team were declared the winners.
Ayush Sankaran, a BHIS student and winner, said, “I am thrilled to win another competition along with my friends Dhwani and Jashith. It was an amazing experience competing with students from across the country. I am grateful for all the support provided by my parents and school.”
Echoing the sentiments of Ayush, another team member of Mighty Warriors, Dhwani Raghuram, said, “This has been an amazing experience! Our success was possible because of the great support and coordination of my classmates Ayush and Jashith. I thank my parents and school for all the guidance. “
Dr Madhu Singh, Principal, BHIS, Malad, said, “Ayush and Dhwani are bright students of our school and they have brought great pride to our school. They have inspired many children and we proudly give their example to everyone to follow in their footsteps. Ayush has created a record by already winning numerous awards with his innovations created during the lockdown. I give credit to their teachers for guiding them in their journey to explore and discover their passions and to their parents for encouraging their children to take up such challenges.”
