Vocational course under NAHEP-IDP concludes at SKUAST-Jammu

 

JAMMU : One week vocational course on ‘Application of computer and IT tools in improving learning and research efficacy of students’ organized by Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu under National Agricultural Higher Education Project-Institutional Development Plan (NAHEP-IDP) concluded here today.

Prof. J.P. Sharma, VC SKUAST-Jammu was chief guest at the valedictory function.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Sharma congratulated members of organising committee and participants on successful completion of training course. He exhorted the NAHEP-IDP team of the University for regularly organizing such vocational training courses and providing platform to young students that help them learn new and emerging concepts in computer education which further sharpen their learning skills.

He stressed upon the students to apply learned ICT research tools in their own research also as these tools help in precise data analysis.

During his address to the participants, Prof. Sharma shared his experiences and talked about positive attitude, communication skills and entrepreneurship development in the success of an individual.

During the training course, 24 students of the university were familiarized with various aspects and techniques of ICT such as fundamentals of automated tools, artificial intelligence, web designing, tool pack analysis, role of ICT in agripreneurship, formation of mobile app, machine learning, ethical hacking, software packages for data processing and statistical analysis, networking cyber security, GEO AI etc.

Earlier, Dr. Manish Kumar Sharma, Nodal Officer NAHEP-IDP and Course Director welcomed the guests and presented a detailed report about the successful completion of vocational course. He informed that training course covered 20 lectures along with practical which were delivered by 14 eminent speakers invited from different institutes of the country besides scientists of SKUAST-Jammu. On the last day of the course, Dr. Bhupal Arya from Uttrakhand University, Roorke delivered lectures on ethical hacking and cyber security.

Dr. Pawnesh Abrol and his team from University of Jammu deliberated on Python language. Dr. B.C. Sharma, Principal Investigator, NAHEP-IDP, SKUAST-Jammu appreciated the course coordinators for their excellent efforts for tapping the creativity and technical skills of the students with a vision to prepare them prospective future entrepreneurs who can become job creators instead of job seekers. Feedback was also received from the students for making the training more practical oriented in near future. Under NAHEP-IDP project which is sanctioned by ICAR, students are given free computer training by SKUAST-Jammu.

During the valedictory function, certificates were distributed among the trainees who successfully completed their training course.

Dr. Rakesh Nanda, Director Education; Dr. Pardeep Wali, Director Research; Dr. Jyoti Kachroo, Director Planning and Monitoring; Dr. S.E.H. Rizvi, Dean, F.B.Sc.; Dr. S. K. Gupta, Registrar and Dr. A. K. Sharma, Chief Librarian were also present on the occasion. The Event was held in strict adherence to COVID guidelines.
