Warwick Arts Centre at University of Warwick Gains National Spotlight
The Warwick Arts Centre has been highlighted in a new report from The Russell Group. “A Bright Future: Places and People,” focuses on the transformative impact of its universities on communities across the UK.
The University of Warwick’s Arts Centre has been shortlisted for Community Engagement Project of the Year at the national Museums and Heritage Awards for its ‘Playing Out in Canley’ programme.
The initiative engaged with over 7,000 people through 263 community sessions and supported 27 local community events. Additionally, 600 art packs were distributed for at-home creativity, and 11 partnerships were developed across community venues, schools, and care homes.
The report underscores the contributions of Russell Group universities in fostering healthy living, enriching culture and heritage, advancing learning and skills, driving economic growth, and progressing towards net zero emissions. It also highlights outreach programs and partnerships with schools and colleges that aim to widen participation and ensure that students from diverse backgrounds have access to higher education.
The University of Warwick is a member of the Russell Group, along with 23 other top universities across the country.
The report also showcases how Russell Group universities support the UK’s rich cultural and historical heritage. Through their world-renowned museums, galleries, and libraries, they preserve and promote access to invaluable cultural assets. Collaborative projects with local communities also ensure that heritage conservation and cultural engagement are inclusive and far-reaching.
