Washington State FFA Convention Returns to WSU After Successful Comeback
Washington State University is pleased to welcome the Washington FFA Convention and Expo back to the Pullman campus in May 2024. This annual event brings together approximately 2,500 high school students, agricultural educators, and guests to learn about careers in the agriculture industry and compete in career and leadership development events.
“We are delighted that the Washington State FFA Convention is returning to WSU,” said Elizabeth Chilton, provost and executive vice president and WSU Pullman chancellor. “It provides a chance to showcase and build on the partnership between our two organizations. It also enables participants to experience events on the WSU Pullman campus and engage face-to-face with our faculty, staff, and students in an immersive learning environment. FFA members will have a unique opportunity to experience a residential campus and, most importantly, the ability to see themselves in a collegiate atmosphere.”

As the state’s land-grant institution, WSU’s partnership with the Washington FFA Association has spanned more than 90 years. The two entities often join forces on activities ranging from development events, educational opportunities, and tours designed to help high school students become aware of future opportunities in agriculture.
“We hope that FFA students are able to come to WSU Pullman, explore new opportunities, broaden their horizons, and ultimately find their home at WSU,” said Nancy Deringer, interim associate dean of student success and academic programs in the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences. “I am grateful for our faculty, staff, and students who remain dedicated to growing our partnership with this incredible leadership organization.”
Previously held at WSU Pullman, the state convention was held in Kennewick, Wash. in 2022 and 2023. The Board of Directors for the Washington FFA Association recently voted to bring the annual convention back to the Pullman campus.
