Washington State University: Three former Cougs are set to suit up for Super Bowl LVII
The good news for Coug fans is that no matter which team wins Super Bowl LVII there will be at least one former member of the WSU football team walking away with the most coveted ring in professional sports.
Jaylen Watson, Gardner Minshew, and Andre Dillard all are headed to Glendale, Arizona for the Feb. 12 matchup between the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs and the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles.
Watson, a cornerback who was drafted in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL draft, already has two interceptions for the Chiefs during the playoff run. In his last season at WSU, Watson earned an All-Pac-12 Conference Honorable Mention and posted the second-most fumble recoveries in the country.
Minshew is the potent backup quarterback for Philadelpia and threw for 355 yards, two touchdowns, and ran for another against the Dallas Cowboys earlier this season. During his single season at WSU, Minshew led both the Pac-12 and nation in passing yards.
Dillard was drafted to the Eagles in 2019. While he is currently on injured reserve due to a fractured arm, Dillard started in five games and allowed just one sack in his last healthy season with the Eagles. At WSU, the offensive lineman was a two-time All-Pac-12 Conference selection. He earned All-America honors and All-Pac-12 First Team accolades as a senior.
