Webinar held on Teledermatology in Unani Medicine

Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University Vice-Chancellor Professor Tariq Mansoor urged the faculty members to use modern telecommunication tools and techniques to reach out to students and make up their academic loss through online teaching and learning programmes. In view of the COVID-19 Pandemic, it was imperative for teachers to maintain academic activities through tutorials, assignments and clinical services using various internet-based platforms, he added.

Addressing the participants of a webinar on “Teledermatology in Unani medicine and its challenges to cope with COVID-19”, organized by the Department of Amraz-e-Jild Wa Zohrawiya, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University, Prof Mansoor said young faculty members should come forward to restore the academic, clinical and research activities in respective departments and help their seniors to get acquainted with the modern teaching and learning methods.

Prof Asim Ali Khan (Director General, CCRUM and Member Board of Governors, CCIM, Ministry of AYUSH) highlighted the major points of the advisory of Ministry of AYUSH in treatment, research and e-learning and mentioned various research projects of AYUSH related to COVID-19.

Prof Sikandar H Siddiqui (Director, Unani Services, Government of Uttar Pardesh) mentioned the measures taken by the AYUSH department in countering the Pandemic and paid tribute to those who lost their life during the fight with COVID-9, and urged for collaboration with allopathic doctors and hospitals.

Prof Jamal Akhtar (Principal, Govt Takmeelut Tib College, Lucknow) discussed the prospects of running OPD and IPD in post-lockdown situation and emphasised the used of telemedicine during the lockdown period to safeguard consultants, health staff and patients.

Prof Shakir Jamil (Former Director, CCRUM) urged the young Unani researchers and clinicians to work on classical medicine parameters and use modern technology during consultations in OPDs.

Dr Azhar Jabin, Jamia Hamdard, stressed on multi-centric clinical trials and adopt categorical research pattern with scientific skill.

Prof M M H Siddiqui, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine and Prof Saud Ali Khan, Principal, AK Tibbiya College gave concluding remarks.
