Webinar on Developing Library Network (DELNET)

 

Aligarh, June 9: Dr Sangeeta Kaul, Director, Developing Library Network (DELNET) explained how DELNET is promoting resource sharing through the development of a library network spread across the Country and the South Asian sub-continent.

She was speaking as the resource of the webinar on ‘DELNET: Resources and Services’ of the Maulana Azad Library, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) held in collaboration with the DELNET, New Delhi.

“DELNET is going from strength to strength, with rapidly growing union catalogues, wider coverage of libraries from varied disciplines, growing numbers of users not only as a major operational library network in India but also in the rest of South Asia”, said Dr Sangeeta.

She spoke about various DELNET resources and services such as inter-library loan, document delivery service, knowledge gainer portal, language learning, e-thesis and e-dissertation among others and presented a demo on how to search e- books, e- journals and dissertations from the databases.

“As intuitional members, users and readers can access over three crore catalogue records of books, journals and articles through the DELNET Discovery Portal and more than 1.6 crore full-text e-books, e-journal and e-articles through the Knowledge Gainer Portal. DELNET also provides access to different electronic resources like Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, EBSCO Open Dissertations, etc”, added Dr Sangeeta.

In the welcome address, Prof Nishat Fatima (University Librarian) said: “The MA Library of AMU is one of the institutional members of DELNET, New Delhi, the single largest resource sharing library network in India, connecting more than 7600 libraries in India and overseas”.

Dr Asif Fareed Siddiqui (Deputy Librarian) extended the vote of thanks and Syed Shaz Husain conducted the webinar attended by over 200 participants.
