Webinar on “Importance of WHO Global Centre for traditional medicine in the growth of AYUSH Sector”

New Delhi:  “Sky is the limit for us and WHO Global Centre will create an ecosystem to boost and explore the wisdom of the traditional medicine system said by Prof. Dr. Tanuja Manoj Nesari, Director, All India Institute of Ayurveda, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India”.

AYUSH Committee, PHDCCI organized a webinar on “Importance of WHO Global Centre for traditional medicine in the growth of AYUSH Sector” on 29th April 2022.

Prof. Dr. Tanuja Manoj Nesari, Director, All India Institute of Ayurveda, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India was the Chief Guest for the webinar.

The webinar is also graced with the presence of Dr. Rajiva Rai, Chair, AYUSH Committee & Head Research, Dabur India Limited, Dr. Santosh Joshi, Sr. General Manager, Hamdard Laboratories, Dr. Anurag Gupta, Manager, Regulatory Affairs, Baidyanath Ayurved Bhawan Private Limited and the session was moderated by Mr. Vivek Seigell, Assistant Secretary General, PHD Chamber and Dr. Ravi Rathod, Joint Secretary, PHD Chamber.

While welcoming the guests Dr. Rajiva Rai stated that our government has been dedicatedly working in its endeavor to make preventive and curative healthcare, affordable and accessible to all. This global center at Jamnagar will certainly help in providing the best healthcare solutions to the entire world. He said, it will also serve as a mark and will definitely provide more recognition for our Indian traditional medicines in the world.

Prof. Dr. Tanuja Manoj Nesari said that, traditional medicine has proven to be very effective during the covid period. The Inauguration of WHO Global Centre is indeed a proud moment for India and entire AYUSH Industry. There’s a need to create an ecosystem to boost and explore the wisdom of the traditional medicine system.

Dr. Nesari said there has been a rapid modernization of the ways traditional medicine is being studied. Artificial intelligence is now used to map evidence and trends in traditional medicine and to screen natural products for pharmacokinetic properties. She further said that, Sky is the limit for us and she’s confident that this global centre will benefit all regions of the world.

Dr. Santosh Joshi mentioned that, WHO global Centre will provide the evidence for traditional system of medicine. It will provide access to safe and effective treatment and will help in harness the power of science to strengthen the evidence base for traditional medicine. Dr. Joshi further highlighted that, this seems to be the right time to use the opportunity in new technology and innovations to be accepted and explored in the AYUSH sector.

Dr. Anurag Gupta mentioned that, validation is very much important for making our presence at global level. He urged that involvement of AYUSH practitioners and training of AYUSH graduates to explore the principles of therapy and research transfer. He mentioned that there’s an utmost need for Industry and academia collaboration for creating evidence based practice to get better results.
