Webinar on ‘Police Reforms’ at Aligarh Muslim University
Aligarh : “Like other organisations, Police force is a manifestation of the society, which cannot remain insulated from the social ecosystem and needs to be part of a sustained push for reforms,” said Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) Vice Chancellor, Professor Tariq Mansoor.
He was addressing the webinar on ‘Police Reforms’ organised by the Department of Law, AMU.
Former Director General of Police, Uttar Pradesh, Mr Javeed Ahmad (IPS, 1984 Batch UP Cadre) gave a power point presentation on issues surrounding police reforms such as human rights, politician-police nexus, functional autonomy, citizen centric approach, and legal framework among other issues.
Mr Javeed was the key speaker of the programme.
In the welcome address, Prof Zaheeruddin, Chairman, Department of Law briefed the guests about the state-of-art academic and infrastructural facilities at the department of Law.
Prof Mohammad Tariq (Programme Coordinator) introduced the speaker to the participants.
Prof M Shakeel Ahmad Samdani, Dean, Faculty of Law extended the vote of thanks; Mr Mohammad Nasir moderated the question and answer session.
Faculty members, students and research scholars of the Department of Law attended the webinar.
