Week-long Hindi Diwas Celebration Concluded

 

Aligarh : On the occasion of Hindi Diwas, September 21, the Rajbhasha (Hindi) Implementation Committee concluded the week-long Hindi Saptah celebrations at the Faculty of Arts Lounge, Aligarh Muslim University.

The chief speaker, Professor Rahman Musavvir from Jamia Millia Islamia University, highlighted that Hindi is deeply rooted in our cultural heritage. He remarked that despite concerns over Hindi’s decline post-liberalization, the language has thrived in both the market and social media. Whether for economic gain or self-expression, Hindi remains a dominant force.

Professor Musavvir dismissed the notion of simplifying Hindi, stating that a language is difficult only for those who don’t use it. Welcoming the evolution of modern Hindi, he stressed the importance of assimilating words from other languages.

In her presidential remark, AMU Vice Chancellor, Professor Naima Khatoon, highlighted the importance of Hindi as a source of national pride and encouraged everyone to speak it confidently. She also assured that the AMU administration would extend full support for the promotion of the Hindi language.

Professor Mohammad Ashiq Ali, Chairman of the Department of Hindi, in his welcome address, highlighted how the department operates seamlessly to promote and propagate the Hindi language.

Professor M. Shahul Hameed announced the winners, while the proceedings were conducted by Professor Shambhunath. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Professor Tasneem Suhail.

The programme included competitions such as essay writing, letter writing, extempore, and terminology contests, attracting participants from various university departments.
