Weeklong Horticulture week concludes at Udhampur

 

UDHAMPUR : A valedictory function-cum-farmers conference was organized today by Department of Horticulture on the last day of Horticulture week, here at Conference Hall DC Office Complex.

The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Indu Kanwal Chib. More than 150 orchardists / farmers, Women from Self Help Group of NRLM (Umeed) & entrepreneurs of Food Processing Units participated in the programme.

At the outset, Chief Horticulture Officer, Udhampur, Salil Kumar Gupta gave a detailed account of the achievements during the Horticulture week including plantation drives, skill development programme on plant propagation, Kissan Ghosties & Training Programme on value addition of Fruit and Vegetable.

Threadbare discussions were held on One District One Product approach in the district. The DC stressed on the self employment of women through skill Development. She urged the orchardists to avail the schemes of the department.

During the technical session, the queries and issues of the growers and farmers were resolved by the District Officers of the department, R.R Sharma, District Level Subject Matter Specialist (Plant Pathology) & K.S Sodhi, Manager-Cum-Chemist.

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificate to the trainees of Training Programme on Fruit and Vegetable Preservation.
