With situation coming to normal, development of Mohali to be on fast track again : Balbir Singh Sidhu
“With the situation moving fastly towards normalcy, the overall development of Mohali would again be fast tracked and the rapid pace at which the city is emerging as a hub of infrastructural development, would be given further acceleration so as to ensure that Mohali emerges as a model city.” These views were expressed here today by the Health Minister, Punjab, and MLA Mohali Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu on the occasion of visiting various market places in the city to take stock of the issues being faced by the people in general and shopkeepers in particular.
The minister visited the markets of the city including Phase -11 Palika Market, Phase -10, 9, 7, Phase – 3B2 and Phase – 5. Interacting with the shopkeepers, he gave a very patient hearing to the various issues raised by shopkeepers such as courtyard work in Phase 11 Palika Market, efficient sewerage system, Parking problem and improved condition of approach road, installation of paversin Phase 10 market, Improving sanitary conditions in Phase -9 market, Not allowing outside Rehri vendors to operate in Phase -7 market leading to congestion of space, Making green belt part of parking, strengthening sewerage system and giving relaxation in property tax in Phase – 3b2.
Regarding the issues raised by the shopkeepers, he assured that all these issues would be adequately addressed and he would take them up at higher level.
Coming to the development centric aspect, the minister said that a sum of Rs. 1 Crore 45 lakh is to be released for the overall development of the cooperative housing societies in Mohali.
Emphasizing the maintenance of clean surroundings, Mr. Sidhu said that having a hygienic environment is absolutely the need of the hour so as to ensure that Mohali remains corona virus free. This would bring a change and give new beautified look to the market places.
Exhorting the people to not get complacent, he said that though the district is corona virus free for now but we still need to be cautious and follow the rule of prevention is better than cure. He also said that the directions of the Government issued from time to time must be followed.
