Women’s College wins National Sports Day Volleyball Tournament

Aligarh : The Women’s College volleyball team triumphed over Abdullah Girls School with a comfortable 25-12, 25-19 victory to claim the championship of the Volley Tournament held to celebrate ‘National Sports Day’ at the Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

Afreen of the Women’s College team was declared the most outstanding player of the final for scoring the maximum points.

“National Sports Day is dedicated to the Nation’s sports heroes and champions, honoring their contribution and dedication. I am sure that this volleyball tournament has helped raise awareness about the values of sports such as discipline, perseverance and teamwork”, said Prof Naima Khatoon (Principal, Women’s College) while encouraging students to take up sports as a part of their lives.

Prof Naima distributed prizes to the winners with Dr Nazia Khan (In-charge, Physical Education Section), Afsha Waheed Khan, Arfeen Bano, Waseem, Mawish Khan and Afsha Ubaid.

On the road to the final; Abdullah Girls School team defeated AMU ABK Girls High School, Women’s College triumphed over Senior Secondary School-Girls (Self-Finance) and Abdullah Girls School prevailed over Senior Secondary School-Girls (Regular).
