Work hard to achieve academic, competitive excellence: DC Baramulla tells students

Baramulla: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today impressed upon the students to work hard for achieving academic as well as competitive excellence in diverse fields adding that imparting qualitative education to the students is the only way out to enable them to compete on state, national and other levels.
He made these remarks during a function at a local private higher secondary school at Kreeri Baramulla organized by the school administration in connection with the celebration of Sir Syed day.
The DC was invited as the chief guest whereas Principal Govt Degree College Kreeri was the guest of honour at the event.
Appreciating the role of private institutions in promoting the educational standards, DC said that nations can neither progress nor achieve the higher levels of development unless its educational mechanism is strengthened at the grass root level. He reiterated that development of education has been the top most priority of district administration for which various initiatives are being taken including development of basic infrastructure in educational institutions.
In reference to Sir Syed day, Dr Itoo said that Sir Syed Ahmad Khan was an epitome of educational revolution whose contributions towards imparting education especially among the Muslim community cannot be overlooked.
He said that his greatest achievement was the establishment of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) adding that he himself has been the alumni of this prestigious institution.
The DC urged upon the teachers to create a conducive environment while dealing with the students and stressed for adopting student friendly learning measures.
Meanwhile, various colorful cultural items were presented by the students and the DC announced a Rs 10,000 cash award for their felicitation.
Chief Education Officer Baramulla, district and sectoral officers and officials of the education department besides a huge gathering of students showed their overwhelming participation at the event.
