Workshop “All-on-Four Dental Implant Supported Fixed Prosthesis” held at ZADC

Aligarh : A specialized workshop on “All-on-Four Dental Implant Supported Fixed Prosthesis for Rehabilitating Edentulous Patients” was conducted at Dr. Ziauddin Ahmed Dental College, AMU. Organized by the Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge, the workshop was co-hosted by the Departments of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Periodontics. It provided dental professionals, students, and educators with hands-on practical experience in the “All-on-4 Treatment Protocol.”

The event featured Dr. Sumit Bhansali, Senior Professor from the Department of Prosthodontics, Government Dental College, Jaipur, as the resource person. The workshop was divided into two comprehensive sessions. In the first session, Dr. Bhansali presented the philosophy and treatment algorithm of the “All-on-4 Treatment Protocol.” The second session included a detailed, step-by-step live surgical demonstration on a patient, covering the complete procedure from implant placement to temporization. The surgical demonstration was conducted in the Minor OT of the Oral Surgery Department, with a live telecast in the seminar room.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, former Vice-Chancellor of AMU, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Veena Maheshwari, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, as the Guest of Honour. Chairperson Prof. Shaista Afroz welcomed an audience of nearly 70 participants, followed by an address from Prof. R K Tewari, Principal of Z.A. Dental College.

Former Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, praised the department’s efforts to cultivate a commitment to patient care among students. He emphasized that a holistic approach to patient care is essential and should be prioritized.

Prof. Maheshwari highlighted the workshop’s value in enhancing clinical skills, particularly for postgraduate students. Prof. Shaista Afroz, along with faculty members Dr. Sajjad Abdur Rahman and Prof. Neha Agarwal, supervised the workshop. Prof. Afroz emphasized the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in patient care for optimal treatment outcomes.The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Amina.

Dr. Suraj Vishweshwar, Dr. Aisha Samreen, and Dr. Heba Ansar assisted in the surgery under the guidance of Prof. Abhinav Gupta and Dr. Mohd Danish, while Dr. Ummul Vara, Dr. Mansi Agarwal, and Dr. Nikhil anchored the program.

In addition to the workshop the first issue of the “Prosthodontics Alumni Magazine” was released by Prof. Mohammad Gulrez, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the MDS specialty course. The magazine connects alumni with current students, sharing professional challenges and inspiring future prosthodontists. Prof. Geeta Rajput, facilitated alumni engagement, while Prof. Gaurav Singh, guided content. Dr. Amina headed the editorial team, supported by Assistant Editors Dr. Orooj Fatima, Dr. Riyaz Ahmad, and Dr. Saumyadeep Sarkar.
