Workshop for craft Instructors concludes Handicrafts Showroom Janipur
JAMMU : A10-day workshop for craft instructors organised under the guidance of Dr. Vikas Gupta, Director Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu, concluded today at Handicrafts Showroom Janipur.
The training workshop was organized for the Instructors of different crafts such as Phoolkari Embroidery, Calico Printing, Stapple Embroidery, Lathe-cum-lacquer and Modern Art, in collaboration with School of Designs and Kharkhandhar units of Jammu District.
The objective of the workshop was to introduce new patterns contemporary to recent trends, and to prepare the craft Instructors for higher responsibility as the Government is looking forward for creating self employment avenues in the traditional Handicrafts of the region.
Sangoita Dogra (Modern Art), Shallu Dogra (Phoolkari craft), Shujat Ali Parray (Sozni Craft), Shivum Thakur (Modern Art) and Amandeep Singh (Designs & Packaging) participated as Guest faculty.
Special Guests, Deputy Director Planning, Megha Bogia and Deputy Director Training Shivi Sharma, were also present on the occasion.
The Assistant Director Handicrafts, Jammu, Sonika Parihar, informed the participants about the importance and utility of the workshop and emphasized that the handicraft sector has huge potential and has the ability to create self employment opportunities.
Total of 36 craft Instructors from Districts of Jammu , Samba , Kathua , Udhampur and Reasi participated in the workshop. The officials of Assistant Director Handicrafts, Jammu were also present on the occasion.
