Workshop on ‘Elimination of Violence against Women’ held at Dooru, Anantnag
ANANTNAG : Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) Anantnag today organised a workshop on ‘Elimination of Violence against Women’ in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Authority (TLSA) Dooru, National Commission for Women (NCW) and Womens Police Station Anantnag at Block Training Centre Dooru, Anantnag.
Speaking on the occasion, Judge Majid Farooq Mir spoke at length on free legal Aid, Domestic Violence and Gender Inequality,
Resource persons from NCW also spoke on various aspects of elimination of Violence against women
Sheikh Kifayat ullah, DPM JKRLM Anantnag spoke at length on role of JKRLM (UMEED) in women empowerment particularly with economic /financial aspects.
Raja Suhail DPM Livelihoods Anantnag, Mudasir Abdullah – BPM Qazigund, Dr Madheeha Untoo- Non Farm Coordinator Dooru, Officials from line departments/ organizations also spoke during the workshop.
The speakers said that concepts like gender inequality have become archaic concepts and females have the same right to aspire. They said that given the right opportunities, females have proven to be active collaborators in Nation building and have been valuable contributors in development.
The participants also pledged to work towards eliminating violence against women from the society and seek help if they encounter such cases.
