Workshop on “Entrepreneurial skills through trendy jewellery” held #G20

Aligarh: The University Women’s Polytechnic, AMU had organized a 3-day mega workshop on “Entrepreneurial skills through trendy jewellery” from 1st to 3rd May, to help the students to have hands on experience on jewellery making skills as well as beading business and make them competent in the fashion world. On the occasion Ms. Yashoda (Designer Assistant), the resource person provided very in-depth knowledge and demonstrated exciting skills of making beaded jewellery. She also demonstrated the various methods of preparing necklaces, earrings, anklet and bracelets styles using a wide range of beads i.e., seed beads, crystal beads, wooden beads, zari embellished articles etc. She also delivered information regarding the target market of jewellery businesses.

Dr. Salma Shaheen, (Principal, University Women’s Polytechnic and Convener of the workshop) while presenting an overview of the programme, said that Entrepreneur is a national asset by which women entrepreneurs can enhance their participation in the growth of a country’s GDP. This workshop is an exercise to celebrate the g20 summit presidency, she added.

All the students of costume design and dress making section participated and prepared articles by using various techniques. More than 100 articles were prepared by the attendees. E-Certificates were distributed to the students.

Dr. Sheeba Manzoor and Mrs. Fauzia Khan were the (Co-convener), Ms. Sadia Naim (Co-ordinator) and Ms.Ikra Salim was the (Organising Secretary) of the programme.
