Workshop on gender sensitization: A step towards inclusivity
ALIGARH : Experts and academicians carrying on studies in the field of gender equality and its social inclusion will sit together to discuss ways to spread gender sensitization through a workshop organized by the Advanced Centre for Women’s Studies, Aligarh Muslim University on May 26, 2022.
The one-day workshop on “Gender sensitization: A step towards inclusivity” will begin at 10 am in the Conference Hall of the Centre and faculty members, Dr Tarushikha Sarvesh and Mr Sheeraz Ahmad will conduct the proceedings.
Prof Azra Musavi (Director, Advanced Centre for Women’s Studies) said that the workshop is being organized in line with the objectives of the action–research component of a project meant to sensitise students of various departments regarding gender related issues.
“The aim of the workshop is to make the gender equality related language, communication and spaces more inclusive within the university. The workshop is part of students’ training programme envisioned as a continuous exercise and they will be trained to identify gender inequalities existing on the campus as well in society at large”, she pointed out.
Professor Musavi said that through this workshop, the students will also confront their own biases, which would force them to question their own learning patterns and help them improve their thought process. “The initiative is to build trust and set up a safe and positive environment through the workshop”, she concluded.
