Workshop on hand embroidery
ALIGARH: A two-day Hands-on-Training workshop on basic stitching and needle painting was organised by Centre for Skill Development and Career Planning, Women’s College, Aligarh Muslim University.
Nearly 50 students of Women’s College, Community College, Women’s Polytechnic and Institute of Designing and Fashion Technology received training with emphasis on basic stitching of traditional hand embroidery, stem stitches, lazy daizy, French knot and needle painting. Director of the Centre, Prof Naima Khatoon informed that the workshop aimed at motivating the needle enthusiasts to revive the hand embroidery skill and traditional art. Students’ Counsellor, Dr Samreen Hasan Khan conducted the programme while Dr Nida Alam was the resource person.
