Workshop on World Environment Day

 

Aligarh: The Department of Munafeul Aza, A. K Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University, organized a workshop on “World Environment Day.” The event took place on June 3, with the participation of over 50 enthusiastic students. The workshop aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to safeguard the environment and promote sustainable living practices.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Kaleem Ahmed, Assistant Professor from the Department of Wildlife Sciences at AMU, in his address shed light on the LiFE mission, an initiative spearheaded by the Government of India, emphasizing the significance of energy conservation, reduction in single-use plastics, tree plantation drives, and the creation of micro-environments. Dr. Ahmed’s insightful presentation motivated students to adopt eco-friendly behaviors as integral components of their lives.

Another speaker, Dr. Hafiz Iqtidar Ahmad, highlighted the importance of embracing natural lifestyles as a key strategy for environmental preservation. Drawing upon the classical Unani medicinal literature, he elaborated on the “Asbab-e-sitta zaroriyyah” (six essential factors for Life) and emphasized the value of simplicity in daily routines.

Dr. Saba Zaidi, the organizing secretary, provided a comprehensive overview of the objectives and significance of World Environment Day, further underscoring the importance of environmental stewardship

The workshop served as a catalyst for participants to embrace environmentally conscious behavior and actively contribute to the preservation of our planet.
