Workshop organized for first-time voters

ALIGARH  : The German Section, Department of Foreign Languages, Aligarh Muslim University, in collaboration with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom South Asia and SMART-NGO’s Civic Games Lab organized a workshop for the first-time voters to educate participants regarding various aspects of elections, their rights as voters, and the electoral process.

Its Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom South Asia (FNF South Asia), represented by Mr Himanshu Chawla, Regional Communication and Program Manager, collaborated with SMART-NGO’s Civic Games Lab, led by Abeer Kapoor and colleagues, to organise a workshop at Aligarh Muslim University.

The workshop, coordinated by Mr Syed Salman Abbas, featured interactive games, including “The Poll”, underscoring the shaping of manifestos, and “Farzi” focused on debunking fake news. These games helped the participants gain an understanding of the electoral landscape and the importance of discerning accurate information amidst the proliferation of misinformation.

Prof Mohammad Azher, Chairman, Department of Foreign Languages said that the participating students displayed great enthusiasm and took an interest in understanding the electoral process and their role as voters.

He appreciated the collaborative efforts of Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom South Asia, SMART-NGO and Mr. Syed Salman Abbas who facilitated an impactful workshop effectively imparting knowledge about elections.
