World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2024 observed
ALIGARH : The Hospital Infection Control Committee (HICC), J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, under the aegis of the Society of Antimicrobial Stewardship Practices of India (SASPI), organized an inter-departmental faculty quiz competition under the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week celebration, which commenced with the theme “Educate, Advocate and Act Now.”
Dr. Nafis Faizi (Department of Community Medicine) won the first prize while Dr. Manzoor Ahmed (Department of Surgery) won the second prize. Dr. Nafees Ahmed and Dr. Shahzad Anwar (Department of TBRD) shared the third prize.
Prof. Fatima Khan, Member Secretary, HICC and Nodal Officer, NAP-AMR, J.N. Medical College conducted the quiz.
Prof. Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal and CMS, J.N. Medical College distributed prizes and appreciated the initiative to keep faculty members updated with new developments in various medical areas.
Prof. Nazish Fatima, Chairperson, Department of Microbiology, commended HICC’s efforts, and emphasized the importance of prudent antimicrobial use.
Dr. Shariq Ahmed conducted the programme.
In a similar celebratory event, the Aligarh Chapter of Hospital Infection Society India (HISI) under the SASPI organized a Quiz competition for undergraduate students. The team of Syed Mohammed Zia and Syed Hilal Husain (MBBS 2020 batch) emerged as the winner, while the teams of Sumaiya Reyaz and Mohammad Taaha Khan (MBBS 2022 batch) and Umeima Rehman and Mohammad Anas Khan (MBBS 2022 batch), were declared the first and second runner up respectively.

The HISI Aligarh Chapter, under the aegis of American Society for Microbiology, also organized a reel competition for who created awareness reels on AMR. Naz Sanobar (MBBS 2019 batch) was declared the winner. Dr. Mohd. Salman Shah, Department of Community Medicine and Dr. Raman Sardana, Secretary, HISI judged the copetition.
