World Bank Appoints New Resident Representative for the Republic of Congo

BRAZZAVILLE – Ms. Louise Pierrette Mvono officially assumed her duties as World Bank Resident Representative for the Republic of Congo in Brazzaville on July 1, 2023.

Her main priorities in this new role will be to (i) maintain and strengthen good working relationships with the government and other stakeholders; (ii) implement the 2020-2025 Country Partnership Framework and prepare the Performance and Learning Review; and (iii) manage the country office and supervise and mentor country office staff, building on their existing professionalism and team spirit.

A Gabonese national, Ms. Mvono joined the World Bank in 2016 as a Senior Education Specialist in the Education Global Practice in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, and most recently worked in the Education Global Practice in the Middle East and North Africa region while based in Rabat, Morocco.

With more than 25 years of experience in human capital development and poverty reduction, Ms. Mvono has managed several social policy reform programs in education, integrated early childhood and adolescent development, and social protection, as well as skills development for employability with a focus on partnerships between training institutions and the private sector.

Ms. Mvono holds a PhD in Evaluation of Education Systems from the Institut de Recherche sur l’Economie de l’Education (IREDU) of the Université de Bourgogne in France. Her predecessor, Ms. Korotoumou Ouattara, has returned to Washington to assume a new role within the World Bank.

Ms. Mvono is married and the mother of three children.
