World Diabetes Day observed

 

ALIGARH  : The World Diabetes Day was observed at the Aligarh Muslim University with students of Medicine and Unani Medicine faculties participating in a variety of awareness programmes held to educate people how to lessen the chances of becoming diabetic.

The nursing students and the faculty members at the College of Nursing, Aligarh Muslim University gathered to observe the World Diabetes Day at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, J.N. Medical College, under the guidance of the Principal, Nursing College, Prof. Farha Azmi.

Dr. Hamid Ashraf, Director, Rajiv Gandhi Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology elaborated on the preventive measures to combat diabetes, including adoption of healthy diet, peaceful and stress-free life style, regular outdoor physical activities and reducing screen time on TV, Mobile and Computer.

Ms. Hooma Ruhi stressed the need for launching community awareness programmes and extended a vote of thanks.

The B.Sc. Nursing 4th Semester students organized a “Nukkad Natak” to highlight the theme of the year, “Access to Diabetes Care”.

At the Faculty of Unani Medicine, the Academic and Co-Curricular Committee, organized an oral presentation competition for postgraduate students, while observing the World Diabetes Day.

Prof Ubaidullah Khan, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, highlighted the paramount importance of developing in students communication skills and providing them with the latest knowledge of developments in the concerned field.

Prof Badrudduja Khan, Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, stressed the pivotal role of lifestyle change in preventing or lessening the impact of diseases like diabetes.

Earlier, welcoming the speakers, Prof Asia Sultana, Chairperson, Academic and Co-Curricular Committee, shed light on upcoming events planned by the committee for PG students to nurture creativity and innovative thinking and enhancing employability quotient in students.

The winners of the oral presentation event were felicitated with prizes while other participants were given the certificates of participation.
