World Environment Day observed at AMU

 

ALIGARH : The World Environment Day related celebrations continued at the Aligarh Muslim University with celebratory programmes held across the university.

The Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) organized a model-making competition which aimed at promoting environmental awareness and creativity among medical students.

The team of Mohd Danish, Mohd Mazhar and Mohd Wamique won the first place while the second place was secured by the team of Mohd Kamran, Mohd Zulfiqar and Mohd Arif.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Dr. Mohammad Bilal (JR-1), introduced the participating teams. A total of 5 teams, each comprising 3 interns, participated in the competition.

Prof. Uzma Eram, Incharge RHTC, extended a vote of thanks.

The AMU Kishanganj Centre, Bihar, a tree-plantation drive was undertaken, along with a clean-up campaign and recycling initiative to mark the importance of environmental conservation at the local level.

The Centre Director, Prof Ishrat Alam stated that the World Environment Day presents a valuable opportunity to reflect on our relationship with the planet and take meaningful action towards its preservation.

The resident students and the hall administration at the Begum Azizun Nisa Hall of girls participated in a plantation drive marking the significance of the day, under the guidance of the Provost Prof. Asiya Chaudhary.

They also installed bird water feeders at several place in hall premises and raised awareness about the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices.

The event also included old clothe donations drive promoting social responsibility and supporting those in need.
