World health week observed
ALIGARH : The Department of Community Medicine, J. N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University organized health awareness events to mark World Health Week 2023, under the theme, “health for all”.
The Chairperson of the department, Prof. Saira Mehnaz said that the week-long celebrations started with an undergraduate quiz under the supervision of the Nodal Officer, Dr. Sameena Ahmad. The team comprising Mantasha Ahmad, Hera Afsar, and Sana Naz emerged winners, out of the 19 teams that took part in the quiz.
A health camp was organized in Sumera Village, a field practice area under Rural Health Training Centre, Jawan, which was supervised by Member Incharge, RHTC, Dr. Uzma Eram, and MO, UHTC, Dr. Suboohi Afzal. Senior and junior residents of the Department and interns posted at RHTC took part in the screening, diagnosis, and management of around 100 beneficiaries of the village and gave them free medicines for some common ailments and advised them on lifestyle and dietary modifications.
A skit (Nukkad Natak) was also staged at RHTC, Jawan, emphasizing the importance of early medical consultation in case of a health issue. The play also highlighted how an educated woman motivates her family members about good hygiene, the importance of female education, and the significance of early consultation with doctors.
On this occasion, Dr. Uzma Eram motivated the audience to take care of health and hygiene. Dr. Tabassum Nawab emphasized the importance of healthcare and maintaining hygiene among family members to prevent various communicable diseases.
