World Heritage Day: Dogra Art Museum Jammu hosts special exhibition on rare manuscripts

 

JAMMU : Dogra Art Museum, Jammu, the vanguard of Art and Culture of Dogra Pride is celebrating the World Heritage Week with vigour and enthusiasm. The occasion is being celebrated under the aegis of Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museum J&K.

The World Heritage Day is observed globally on April 18 to celebrate and spread awareness about Art, Culture and Heritage of a place.

To mark the occasion, a special exhibition on rare Manuscripts in Devnagri, Sharda, Persian and Gurmukhi Scripts has been organized by the Department in Dogra Art Museum, Mahabharata, Samvat 1853 (weighing 22 KG), Roop Bhawani Rahashyopdesh (Sharda Manuscript) are the special attractions of the exhibition. A number of schools/colleges of Jammu have been invited to come to the Museum for familiarization and awareness about Dogra Art and Culture.

Students from different schools are visiting the Museum and evince keen interest in Manuscripts, objects and artifacts on display inside the Museum. The children are taken for a guided tour of various galleries of the Museum and made aware of history and significance of various Art objects by well trained guides. The event is being closely monitored and supervised by Dr. Sangeeta Sharma, Assistant Director Archives, Archaeology and Museum, Jammu.

Director Archives, Archaeology and Museum, J&K, Rahul Pandey is closely monitoring the promotional activities to make the event a grand success. The Director has stressed on inviting people from across the entire social spectrum and institutions to create comprehensive mass awareness about Art and Culture.
