WORLD LOOKS AT NEWCOMERS WITH HIGH HOPES & EXPECTATIONS: SPORTS MINISTER TO STUDENTS IN BHU

 

Varanasi : Union Information Broadcasting and Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Anurag Singh Thakur has called upon students to put their heart and soul into the targets they set for themselves in life and career which in turn would guarantee them success for sure. The minister was addressing students and sportspersons of Banaras Hindu University at the Department of Physical Education, Faculty of Arts on Thursday. He said that the time students spend in the university and educational institution is a golden period and once gone it would never come back, hence the students must make the most of it and work hard for their physical, mental and academic growth. He underlined the need for developing the social life of students and not just confining themselves into classrooms. He gave them the mantra of “YOUR NETWORK IS YOUR NETWORTH”, and suggested that they should meet more people, make more friends and grow their network.

Paying tribute to founder of Banaras Hindu University, Bharat Ratna Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya ji, the Sports Minister said that Mahamana’s vision translated into a great institution like BHU which has been contributing in nation building for decades.

Highlighting the importance of physical education and fitness in life, Anurag Thakur said that the Government of India has also been putting a greater focus on this, that is why campaigns like Fit India movement and several other initiatives have been launched.

The Minister said that the role of teachers of Physical Education is becoming even more important day by day. He said that as lifestyle related health problems see a rise in the rapidly changing world, physical education teachers while imparting education can play a very important role in spreading awareness for a healthy life in general as well.

Anurag Thakur said that the whole country and the world too looks with high hopes and expectations towards newcomers as they have the ability to change the world for good. The minister also met students from different parts of the country who are studying in the department. Faculty members, staff, students, university officials were present during the visit of the minister.
